Not so long ago it was easier to buy Manchester United Tickets. Things are different now, and Manchester United have become a commodity for which there is great demand.
The Premier League season is about to start, and promises to be one of the most exciting seasons ever. The defending champions, Manchester United are once again the favorite to win the title for the fourth year in a row, however, teams such as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal will pose a huge challenge.
Despite losing Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, interest in the Manchester United has never been higher. In July Manchester United did a preseason trip through Asia where they drew more than 200,00 spectators. The team is one of the world’s most popular, and its passionate supporters seem to grow in numbers every year.
Because of this increase in the team’s popularity, it has become more and more difficult to buy Manchester United tickets. Manchester United might have one of the largest stadiums in the United Kingdom (with a total capacity of 76,212), but tickets are very hard to come by because games are almost always sold out.
Most seats are filled by season ticket holders, so for every game there are only a limited number available to the public. This is very evident when it comes to the big games against Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, the local derby with Manchester City, and some of the Champions League matches against the other top teams in Europe. One United members have access to remaining tickets through a lottery system they can enter for every game they want to see. Everyone can become a member of One United by paying annual dues, but with the limited number of free tickets available for all the members, the chances of winning tickets through the lottery are not that great.
It is not likely that the supply of Manchester United tickets will increase in the near future. The capacity of Old Trafford is not planned to be increased, and the popularity of the team is not likely to decrease given its recent successes (three Premier League titles, two Champions League Wins etc.).
